Success-It’s Your Choice

SuccessSuccess is simply the favorable outcome of something attempted. You can choose to be successful at what you want to accomplish. The secret is to want it bad enough to be willing to earn it.

Undoubtedly, certification in your profession can help you succeed and grow professionally. The first step to achieving success, such as certification, is believing in yourself. Make a choice to commit with passion and invest in what is needed-time, money-of yourself.

Do not allow fear of failure to cause you to fail. Fear is nothing more than False Evidence Appearing Real. Do not let your past failures rob you of the chance to be successful in the future. You can choose to learn from past failures and choose not to make the same mistake over again.

When someone gives you constructive criticism, do not feel like you have failed. More than likely, the criticism is of your action(s) and not of you as a person. Look at the constructive criticism as a gift that can help you to improve and understand what changes you need to make to become successful.

The key to success is taking action, and sticking to your priorities.

If you want something to change, you have to change something. If you want to be successful tomorrow, you have to make choices today. Choose to take action that will get you where you want to go. For instance, if you desire to be a leader in your workplace you have to act like a leader. Ifyou want to be a successful leader you need to:

  • Be willing to take responsibility;
  • Take accountability for successes as well as failures;
  • Cope with change;
  • Not get discouraged by failures;
  • Always do the “right” thing;
  • Never let your integrity get tarnished;
  • Have flexibility in all circumstances; and
  • Not let those you lead see your frustration.

Attitude is powerful. You are in charge of your attitude and ultimately your happiness and success. Remember, only you can change your attitude. Believe in yourself and focus on what you want and not on what you don’t want.

I have been successful in my career and I want to share with you what I feel are what I consider the fundamental steps to success.

  1. Do what you love – if you don’t love what you are doing, then do something else. You will be happier and so will others around you.
  2. Make a name for yourself – a good name that is. Do something that no one else wants to do and then do it great!
  3. Don’t do the minimum – don’t wait for your state to have mandatory certification; get certified now. Don’t just pass a test with the minimum score, but aim high and you will do it. In other words, don’t just do what is necessary or required to “get by”. Go above and beyond and your success will reveal itself sooner than you think.

The only control you have is in the choices you make. You can choose to be successful.
